Settling tank of the Los Milagros aqueduct

Its position on the course is no accident. The piscina limaria was placed just before the point where the conduit had to rise over the Albarregas valley — that is, immediately before the most expensive and most delicate stretch of the whole work: the great Los Milagros arcade. Settling the water before letting it into the arches reduced silting of the specus and, with it, the maintenance of the part of the aqueduct hardest to clean. It is an engineering decision about running the thing, not about display.

The remains can be seen freely from outside, with no enclosure or opening hours and with an information panel, and they lie a short walk from the Los Milagros aqueduct itself and the Roman bridge over the Albarregas, with which they form a single reading.
